Cyanobacterial Toxicity and Water Quality in Aquatic Environments

The growing eutrophication of aquatic ecosystems as a result of human activities has triggered the proliferation (Bloom) of potentially toxic cyanobacteria, changing this phenomenon from being an environmental problem to becoming a health problem, when in recent decades the capacity of certain cyanobacteria produce secondary metabolites with toxic properties for many organisms, including humans.
