Tilapia has been cultured in more than 45 countries and ranks as the second-most important cultured fish in the world. Recently, the outbreak of tilapia lake virus disease (TiLVD) caused by Tilapia tilapinevirus or tilapia lake virus (TiLV) caused high morbidity and mortality in the wild and farmed tilapia in many countries. Despite growing interest in this virus, there is little knowledge that could lead to the sustainable management of the disease.
What You Will Learn
- The current knowledge of TiLVD, including the etiology, pathology, mode of transmission, immunological response, control and prevention.
- Future perspectives, such as vaccine development for TiLV and the role of fish immunity during the infection.
