Monitoring calcium status of postpartum dairy cows-effective use of acidogenic,prepartum diets


Description
This program will present new findings on the use of serum total calcium measurements and changes over days postpartum to evaluate fresh cow calcium status and the relationship with animal health and production. The program will also include recent research on the interactions of prepartum acidogenic diets with calcium intake on fresh cow health, production and reproduction.

Speaker: Dr. Jessica McArt

Dr. Jessica McArt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at Cornell University. Dr. McArt performs clinical service for the Ambulatory and Production Medicine Clinic where she serves as Section Chief, teaches veterinary students both in the classroom and on farms, and conducts applied research on periparturient diseases in dairy cattle.
